The Not So Mighty

Someone or something was playing with us,

Throwing peas made of ice, no break, no fuss,

I was untouched, watching this display,

Wondering if this pelting was a form of play,

But then the peas were replaced with bigger,

Size of marbles, I heard a crack and snigger,

And the atmosphere changed, charged alright,

This was no play, but a show of sheer might,

Where this would end, this heavenly game of ball,

Would iced golf balls, rocks, or even boulders fall.

And if they did, there was nothing to be done,

Humans powerless to the sky’s clouds and sun,

And just like that, it stopped, unknown rules,

Nature leaving alone us humbled human fools.
