It’s School Time

Two months of plugged in fun,

Holiday finished before it begun,

Nights became day, house was awake,

Mornings abandoned for sleep time sake,

Uniforms found where they were thrown,

Testimony to how he had grown,

No time to buy new, it’s not that tight,

Still keeping naked skin out of sight,

Face hidden by hair, salon shut,

I can do it, it’s only a haircut,

Oops, fringe too long, back too short,

But his eyes can now see to be taught,

Bag is packed with books from store,

To be lost, torn, read… not sure,

He’s out the door at crack of dawn,

My new freedom waiting to be worn,

School time, his freedom slips away,

Taken, reversal… until next holiday.
